Article Writing Strategies To Get Into Zen Flow - 7 Tips

zen.jpgGuest Writer: Christopher M. Knight

The more you write, the larger your impact. If that’s true, why is it that so many authors find it hard to either start writing or to complete articles that they started?

You either buy into the perception of writer’s block or you buy into the perception that it’s easy for you to enter and exit an effortless state of flow (some call it the alpha mind state) or the zone when writing. It’s always a choice and therefore you either set yourself up for failure or for runaway success.

Here are 7 strategies that can help you achieve the zone of flow when it comes to writing your best works:

Why Would You Want To Build Strong Abs?

abs.jpgAs a writer, you probably spend a lot of your time sitting down. This can have quite a detrimental effect on you lower back. So stomach exercises become quite important. The muscles of your stomach help support your lower back and promote good posture, which, in turn, can help you avoid repetitive injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Here are some other reasons why strong abs are important:

Strong abs give you a sports advantage
Having well shaped abdominal muscles is very important to the people who are in the field of sports. Abs help us in moving or sitting. We bend by the movement of these muscles. As a result it is important to have them fit and in good shape. The more toned these muscles are the better you can perform in sports. “I’m a writer not an athlete!” you say. Well, do you want to be able to toss a baseball with your son? How about jog around the block with your daughter? Possibly throw a Frisbee with your dog? All of these are sports activities that will benefit from strong abs.

Lots to Be Thankful For

Today’s post will be short so that I have more time to prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday. If you are reading this, you have a lot to be thankful for — especially the presence of mind to be able to read this.

As a writer, you mind is one of your most valuable assets — to some degree it goes neck-to-neck with time. At this time of the year, when many are giving thanks for friends, family, food on the table and a roof over their head, maybe you should consider giving thanks for these things that all writers have:

mindbullet.gif Talent. You must have some talent, even if it is learned, to be a good writer.

mindbullet.gif Skill. Writing is as much a skilled craft as it is an art. To be a good writer you must have skill — and constantly be improving it.

mindbullet.gif Creativity. Whether you write non-fiction or fiction, creativity is at the heart of your talent.

mindbullet.gif Life. You couldn’t be reading this if you weren’t alive. Unless, of course you’re the undead, but that’s another matter. ;-)
mindbullet.gif Passion. If you consider yourself a writer, then you have passion. No one would do this to themselves if they didn’t have a passion for it.

I’m sure you can come up with more. In fact, I challenge you to post comments to this post listing what you are thankful for. Maybe we can each inspire each-other to be thankful for all the gifts we have and have to offer.

A Time of Thankfulness

thanksgivingfeast.jpgYesterday people across the U.S. celebrated Thanksgiving. This national holiday has it origins in the earliest days of the founding of this nation. Back then, the Pilgrims faced harsh weather, unpredictable relations with the natives, disease and other challenges as they carved out homes from the wilderness.

Lucky for them, local Native Americans were friendly and helped them build structures that could keep them safe in the winter, and taught them how to fish and how to farm. This act of friendship was the origin of Thanksgiving.

At this time of the year, it is appropriate to think about all the things you are thankful for. Appreciate those blessings in your life. If you are a follower of The Law of Attraction, you will realize that this exercise will only bring you more blessings.

So, I suggest that you take some time for yourself during this hectic time of year and renew your spirit with thankfulness.

Low Calorie Snacks

snacks.jpgI don’t know about you, but writer’s block gives me the munchies. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Many people believe that eating snacks will destroy your diet, but research has found that snacks may actually help you stick to your diet. The caveat — you have to make healthy choices and don’t overeat.

Snacking can be beneficial to any weight-loss diet. For example, it can help prevent binging. By having a small nutritious snack, you can prevent overeating at your next meal. You can get a much-needed energy boost, as well as the nutrients you need from a nutritious snack during the day.

In order to have healthy and easy snacks available, plan ahead. Do your grocery shopping with healthy snacks in mind and don’t shop while you’re hungry. If you make a list and stick to it, and spend the least amount of time possible in the store, you are more likely to come home with good choices. Once you get the foods home, prepare or at least package them in handy serving size bags so they are readily available to you when the munchies hit.
