The Benefits of Aerobic Exercise

aerobic.jpgAerobic exercise benefits your body in numerous ways. Aerobic exercise increases your heart rate while you take in sufficient oxygen. To do this properly, you must keep moving without rest for a sufficient length of time. Any kind of movement that raises your heart rate and encourages breathing will work: walking, running, dancing, skating, boxing, and more. So, it should be quite easy for you to find an aerobic workout that you enjoy, look forward to doing and can incorporate into your life.

For best results, you want to alternate between time spent with intense movement, say about 10 minutes, with time spent in active recovery — less intense movement that allows you to catch your breath — say about 5 minutes.

Aerobic exercise can make your heart and lungs strong, as well as tone your muscles. Continued practice of aerobic exercise will help you build your overall strength and endurance.

To get a full list of the benefits of aerobic exercise, you should talk to your doctor. You should also consult a physician before starting an exercise routine, especially if you haven’t been exercising for awhile and are out of shape. Pushing yourself too hard can lead to injury.

As a writer, it is easy to put off getting in shape and maintaining your physical health. However, because we spend so much time at our computers, sitting in the same position for long periods of time, it is especially important to work in at least three half-hour exercise sessions a week. After awhile, you’ll notice that you feel better, your mind is clearer and your work is improving.
