Experience the Miracle of Building a Solid Spiritual Business

dollarsign.jpgEveryone who owns their own business desires to make it a success. And why shouldn’t they? They deserve it! Most people would say that in order to make your business successful it requires a lot of hard work, long hours, perhaps extra resources, which usually involves setbacks and possibly failure before that business becomes the desired success. All of that means stress.

I have owned and operated several businesses over the years and followed the precedent that was laid out for me, namely that of hard work, long hours, struggle, discouragement, much stress and failure before success was evident. But a few years ago I learned another way to create a business, one that is built on universal spiritual principles. When building a business based on spiritual principles, it is more about being than doing.

Anything you build requires a sturdy foundation, whether it’s an actual building, a relationship, a career, or a business. In order to hold the rest of the structure, the foundation must be strong enough to withstand whatever comes its way. I learned to apply five spiritual principles that have enabled me to create exactly what I want so that it was effortless. Here are those steps so that you can utilize them in your life.

The first principle is to know what you believe. So many individuals simply adopt the beliefs of everyone else and never stop to think about what they believe for themselves. In order for your foundation to be strong, it must be built on solid truths that you will stand for no matter what. In other words, compromise is never an option. Perhaps you would include honesty or integrity on which to build your foundation. You might want to include compassion, understanding or kindness as well. These values become your truth, something you will stand up for regardless of what comes your way. Take a moment right now to stop and think about your own personal values and truths that you would never compromise.

Principle two is simply this: Define what you want! Our society as a whole focuses on what isn’t working, what doesn’t feel good and what they don’t like in their life. Listen to the first few minutes of the news and you get your eyes and ears full of crime, tragedies, catastrophes, and then some. Have you ever heard a news program begin with all the wonderful things going on in our world? I’m sure you’re chuckling by now because newsworthy information is based on fear and crisis because that’s what people are conditioned to seek.

Since society focuses on the fears and negativity, the fears and negativity continue to show up. This is because whatever you focus on expands into more of the same. Perhaps you saw the movie The Secret, or at least you’ve heard about it. The principle or universal law to which the movie refers is simply this: what you focus on expands into more situations and experiences that continually bring to you more of what you are thinking about. This is called the Law of Attraction. So if you focus on what isn’t working in your life, you will continue to experience things that aren’t working too well.

However, there is another way. Focus on what you want instead. As a coach, I continually have individuals sit in front of me asking for help, and without fail, if I ask them what they want in their life, they look at me with a blank stare. Most people never think about what they want, only what they don’t want. But if those same people began to think about the desires of their heart, their life would change and expand into much good and positive experiences.

When you decide what it is you want, it is good to then set an intention for that desire to the universe. When you set the intention, be sure you stretch beyond your present thoughts and dream big, bigger than you’ve ever done before. Know that whatever you can see and believe you can achieve. Here’s an example. A person places an intention to the universe for 20 new clients next month. As the fourth week approaches he realizes he has only gained three new clients. So he panics, or becomes angry, and declares that this isn’t working. All of those thoughts are from fear and are negative, so of course he is creating the very thing he doesn’t want. Yet if he would focus on the fact that three new clients came and how grateful he is for those three clients, he would be able to expand those thoughts into more positive thoughts and eventually create exactly what he wants – 20 new clients in a month! There is so much power in your thoughts!

The third principle is to surrender your will. This is really hard for most individuals because we’ve been programmed to grab onto the steering wheel and hold on tight, because everything is up to us. We’ve been taught to push, shove, strive, manipulate and force doors to open for us, that it’s all part of the process of getting what we want. Some people set goals and work hard at pushing to accomplish them. This is hard, fatiguing and stressful, and stress can be a killer.

What I have learned is that stress doesn’t need to be part of the picture if you simply allow your desires to unfold in Divine timing. Patience is needed with this principle, not a virtue that most people have. Waiting until the timing is right is part of the surrendering process; it simply means to allow the details to unfold without you doing anything.

When I found my healing center location and proceeded to obtain a loan to purchase the property, I contacted the bank with whom I hold multiple accounts and some investments. They assured me it would be easy to receive the loan and so I set the closing date and waited for the confirmation. The closing was close but I hadn’t heard anything, so I began investigating, only to discover I had been denied the loan. I was baffled and quite upset as I thought this my best and easiest shot are procuring a loan.

So I set out to find a loan, contacting various banks and loaning agencies. Although I found some willing to work with me, there were stipulations and penalties that didn’t feel good. On day, I sat down in my home office chair and said, “God, this is your project. I’ve tried what I know to do and it hasn’t worked, so I’m giving it back to you. You figure out the details because I don’t know what to do, and I’m going shopping!” With a smile on my face I left to go Christmas shopping.

While shopping, just a few hours later, my cell rang and I was greeted by the person selling me the property. Knowing my dilemma, he had put in a good word for me with a bank he had done much business with, and they offered me a loan at the best interest rate yet. This was amazing to me since the seller knew little about me and apparently felt in his gut that I would make a go of this endeavor. The rest was effortlessly executed and a couple weeks later I owned the property that became Where Miracles Happen healing center. When I got out of the way, everything worked with such ease and I didn’t do a thing to make it happen!

Fourth principle is this: When a door opens, run through it. People often get cold feet when a door finally opens. Suddenly they’re faced with the responsibility to step up to the plate and do it, and they are fearful. So they hesitate. But this is now the time to get busy and do the work. Once I purchased the property, it was time for me to get the business ready to open – lots of work. I had asked and it had been given. Don’t dawdle now. Instead, move it!

And finally, the fifth principle is to develop an attitude of gratitude. Be grateful for your desire before it shows up. Gratitude is an expression of love and can only bring more good to you. Whatever you focus on expands into more of the same, so coming from gratitude can only bring you more of what you want. Oprah was once fired as a reporter and told she should leave media. She chose not to accept that as her truth and proceeded to create the life she wanted. She said, “I live in the space of thankfulness – and I have been rewarded a million times over for it. I started out giving thanks for the small things, and the more thankful I became, the more my bounty increased. That’s because what you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what.”

So this means that no matter what shows up in your life, there’s a gift in it and you should be thankful for it. Every little good thing that happens you should be grateful for, and then watch it expand into more and greater good in your life.

So what is the miracle? In this space of using the five principles I just outlined for you, you can experience a life of peace, serenity, inner joy, and excitement about what each day brings. It’ll feel as if every day is an adventure with great satisfaction and happiness as your reward. Stress will be tossed out the door and you will continually create the dreams you have into reality. It is such a wonderful way to live as you simply allow the universe to unfold the desires of your heart into something more grandiose than you ever thought possible.
